Kevin Harvick compares Carson Hocevar to a driver he once feuded with

Sunday's run-in between Carson Hocevar and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was the second time in three weeks that the two crossed paths on the track.

Not only that, Hocevar has had numerous issues with drivers this season due to his overly-aggressive behavior.

That kind of repeated behavior led 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick to compare Hocevar to a younger Joey Logano when he was beginning his career with Joe Gibbs Racing.

Harvick, who was driving the No. 29 for Richard Childress Racing at the time, had enough of Logano's antics and decided to take action and spin him out at Pocono Raceway in 2010, the site of this Sunday's The Great American Getaway 400 (2 p.m. ET, Prime Video, MRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

On the latest episode of his "Happy Hour" podcast, Harvick explained the similarities he currently sees between Hocevar and a younger Logano.

"Logano was at that Hocevar stage, where it was just one of those things where he was always into it with somebody," Harvick said. "That was just one of those days where I was in that Stenhouse position, it was like, 'you're not chopping me off today. I'm tired of racing you, and I'm spinning your a-- out right now.'"

Stenhouse seemed to reach a breaking point in Mexico City when he charged over to Hocevar's car post-race and vowed retribution when they returned to the U.S.

Whether Stenhouse, or someone else, decides to take action and pay Hocevar back in one way or another, Harvick had some interesting remarks.

"You just have to not worry about the penalties," Harvick said. "You just have to follow your gut and just go for it. If you feel like jumping over a car or causing some chaos, you just have to do it. I used to have slush fund. I set $50,000 a year aside for fines."

Although Stenhouse and Hocevar seemed to be on good terms after the Nashville dust-up, the incident in Mexico City only made matters worse, especially considering Hocevar was one lap down.

It is clear Hocevar has the speed and talent to run toward the front, but repeated incidents on the track with multiple drivers have put a major target on his back until he improves his craft.

As bad as it seems right now for Hocevar, being compared to Logano is not the worst thing in the world. After all, Harvick and Logano eventually worked out their differences and became good friends, while Logano is now a three-time champion.

It is not like Hocevar is the first driver to make questionable decisions on the track. Only time will tell if he takes a similar trajectory as Logano and translates the aggressiveness into success.
