LONG POND, Pennsylvania — With fuel running low and a future NASCAR Hall of Famer in Denny Hamlin breathing down his neck, Chase Briscoe drove the best 30 laps of his life in Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway.
After Briscoe and Hamlin cycled to the lead following a round of pit stops and a caution, Briscoe took the lead on the Lap 131 restart and never looked back.
Despite initially being short on fuel, Briscoe managed to save gas and hold off seven-time Pocono winner Hamlin to earn his third career win and his first with Joe Gibbs Racing.
The victory also locks Briscoe into the 2025 Cup Series playoffs, making him the 11th driver to sew up a playoff berth this season.
Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Chris Buescher and Chase Elliott rounded out the top five, with John Hunter Nemechek, Kyle Larson, Ryan Preece, Brad Keselowski and Austin Cindric completing the top 10.
Other notable finishers include Alex Bowman in 11th, Ty Gibbs in 14th, Christopher Bell in 17th, Carson Hocevar in 18th and William Byron in 27th.
Michael McDowell, Bubba Wallace and Riley Herbst finished 35th, 36th and 37th, respectively, after brake failures.
With 17 races complete, Byron leads the points standings by 54 points over Kyle Larson.
The 18th race of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season will take place at EchoPark Speedway (formerly Atlanta Motor Speedway) on June 28. The Quaker State 400 will go green shortly after 7 p.m. ET, with coverage on TNT Sports, PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
