Brewers offense stays hot to cap series sweep over Twins

The Milwaukee Brewers completed their three-game series sweep over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday with a 17-hit outburst in the series finale.

The 9-8 win extended Milwaukee’s streak to four games and marked their first sweep of at least three games in Minnesota since May 17–20, 1996, according to FanDuel Sports Wisconsin. In the series, Milwaukee batted .402 as a team, driving in 35 runs on 47 hits.

Christian Yelich led the Brewers with eight hits, going 8-for-14 with 10 RBI. On Friday, he drove in eight runs, tying Rowdy Tellez for the most RBI in a single game in franchise history. Yelich became the first player in MLB history to record at least eight RBI in a game without hitting a home run since RBI became an official statistic.

Joey Ortiz also delivered a breakout series, finishing 7-for-14 and raising his batting average from .194 to .212 over the three games.

Sal Frelick matched Ortiz’s output, going 7-for-14 as well. Since being moved to the leadoff spot on June 12 against the Cardinals, Frelick has batted .375 with nine RBIs over nine games.

With the sweep, the Brewers improve to 22–10 over their last 32 games — the best record in Major League Baseball during that span. The sweep also puts Milwaukee at 43-35 overall and within just 3.5 games of the Chicago Cubs for first place in the NL Central.
