The Las Vegas Raiders' chances of getting DT Christian Wilkins back in time for the 2025 NFL season may have taken a hit.
Wilkins was seen wearing a walking boot at Baltimore Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy's charity golf challenge on Monday, as shared by the Athletic's Tashan Reed.
That is not good news for the Raiders. They were hoping to have Wilkins, who suffered a Jones fracture in his left foot last season, available in time for training camp, which begins July 17 at the team's headquarters in Henderson, Nevada.
At Raiders' organized team activities in May, head coach Pete Carroll admitted Wilkins is having a "difficult recovery" and "we're in the midst of a long, challenging process."
"He's been here every day," Carroll told the media. "He's here early, working hard, but we're still working (on) it, and he's not ready to get back out."
The Raiders signed Wilkins to a four-year, $110M contract in 2024. In the 2024 season, he appeared in five games and had 17 tackles and two sacks before he got injured against the Denver Broncos in Week 5.
The hope was that Wilkins would help star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby disrupt quarterbacks, creating a formidable duo, but that's not been the case so far for the Raiders.
Wilkins is usually reliable, though, as evident in his playing career with the Miami Dolphins, as he played all 51 games from 2021-2023.
Wilkins' status will likely not be known until training camp.
