Legendary Canadiens Goalie Carey Price Shockingly Snubbed From Hockey Hall of Fame

Former Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price was not included in the names released who will be making up the Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

The Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2025 has officially been released, and several former top players in the game are getting their due.

Former San Jose Sharks assistant captain Joe Thornton, former Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup-winning defenseman and Conn Smythe Trophy winner Duncan Keith are set to be inducted, along with Alexander Mogilny, the 1st Soviet player to have defected from his homeland to play in the NHL.

But absent from the names included in the Class of 2025 was Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price, who is the winningest goalie in team history with 361.

Despite not winning a Stanley Cup during his career, Price's numbers are hard to argue with. Not only is he 1st overall in the long and proud Canadiens history in goaltending wins, but he also put together one of the best years for a goalie in recent NHL history in 2014-15.

Price earned the Hart Trophy, the Vezina Trophy, the Ted Lindsay Award and the William Jennings Trophy after going 44-16-6 with a 1.96 GAA, a .933SV% and 9 shutouts.

Overall, Price is 361-261-79 with a 2.51 GAA, a .917SV%, and 49 shutouts. During his final full year in the NHL, Price helped lead the Canadiens on a surprise run to the 2021 Stanley Cup Final, where they were defeated in 5 games by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

He underwent knee surgery in July 2021 and also entering the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program. He also experienced multiple setbacks in his rehabilitation from surgery, but did manage to play in 5 games in 2021-22. He's not played since then.
