Joey Ortiz led the Milwaukee Brewers to a 9-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday, capping a career night and continuing his hot stretch at the plate with yet another standout performance.
Ortiz extended his hitting streak to a career-best eight games, collecting multiple hits in five of them — including a 2-for-4 effort in Tuesday’s win. Both hits left the park, earning him the first multi-home run game of his career. He also matched his career best with four RBI.

Since the start of his hitting streak, Ortiz is batting .424 (14-for-33) and has lifted his average from .185 to .217. His resurgence has given much-needed offense into the bottom of the Brewers’ lineup at a crucial time.
Milwaukee has closed the gap in the NL Central, gaining three games on the Chicago Cubs during Ortiz’s streak and cutting the deficit from 5.5 to just 2.5 games.
As the Brewers continue to climb the division, Ortiz’s bat may prove to be one of the most impactful reasons.
