Rams star Jared Verse has surprising remarks about Eagles fans

Los Angeles Rams linebacker Jared Verse made himself an enemy of Philadelphia Eagles fans during the playoffs last season, but the latest comments he made might help ease some of the tension.

Prior to the divisional round of the playoffs last season, Verse made headlines for saying he hates Eagles fans. While he has not explicitly taken any of that back, the reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year had much more flattering things to say about Philadelphia's fan base during a recent interview with Whistle.

Verse was asked which opposing fan base he thinks is the best, and he gave credit to Eagles fans.

"Probably the Eagles,” Verse said, via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “I’ve got to give them that. I like when you kind of get into it, you’re aggressive, you’re loud, and they stand by that with no doubt.”

Verse said the crowd at Lincoln Financial Field is the toughest to play in front of, too.

"Playing the Eagles is like playing your rival in college because you never know what they’re going to say, and they’re going to try to say disrespectful stuff,” Verse added. “They’re going to bring something up. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not going to say anything where it’s like, ‘Bro, you crossed a line.’ But they’re going to say something where you’re like, ‘Hey, who you talking to?’"

To summarize: Verse hates Eagles fans, but he also has a great deal of respect for them. There are probably many other players in the NFL who feel the same way.

The Eagles beat the Rams, 28-22, in the playoffs last season. The two teams will have a rematch when the Rams travel to Philadelphia in Week 3 this season.
