WWE SmackDown is finally returning to its original two-hour format after expanding to three hours to start the year, and this change gets fans excited for the Netflix move of WWE to kick off 2025. Some have enjoyed the extra hour of Friday Night Fight Night, while others found it a bit too much action to end the week.

For the latter, they can now rejoice, as this week’s WWE SmackDown will mark the final three-hour show before the brand returns to its original two-hour format, the WWE Universe has come to know and love.

According to PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, the shift will occur after WWE Night of Champions, which will be the July 4th edition of WWE SmackDown. On this week’s show, WWE finally confirmed that Friday nights will return to two hours on the latest instalment of the program, with Michael Cole confirming the shift during the show in Riyadh, effective next week for SmackDown Live in Pennsylvania.

We bid the three hours of SmackDown goodbye; it had a good run, and we’re still getting treated with the best two hours of WWE action every Friday night on WWE SmackDown.
