Michael Kim has joked that he played a role in Keegan Bradley making the cut at the 2025 Rocket Mortgage Classic and deserves to be appreciated with a Ryder Cup spot. The 31-year-old made the comment after he three-putted the final hole, which pushed the cutline and allowed the U.S. Ryder Cup captain to secure a spot for the weekend.

Kim Demands Token Of Appreciation For His 3-Putt

During the second round at Detroit Golf Club on Friday, Kim faced a tough moment on the 18th green. He had a chance to finish strong but ended up three-putting the final hole. What initially seemed like a frustrating end to his round ended up changing the day for many of his fellow players. His bogey on the last hole moved the tournament cut line from seven-under to six-under. That small shift meant nearly 15 other players, who were sitting on six-under, suddenly made the cut. One of those lucky players was none other than Keegan Bradley, the newly named United States Ryder Cup captain.

Kim wasted no time having fun with the situation. After his round, he jumped on Twitter to send a message to the players who benefited from his stumble. He joked that his locker was in the back right corner if any of them wanted to thank him for saving their weekend.

“If any of these players are wondering, my locker is wayyy in the back right corner. A token of appreciation for my 3‑putt on the last hole to push the cut to -6 will be much appreciated. See y’all tomorrow,” Kim posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Kim’s Lighthearted Plea For Ryder Cup Consideration

Bradley has been a popular figure in American golf for years and was recently named captain of Team USA for the next Ryder Cup. He fought hard to keep his tournament alive in the second round and shot a two-under 70 to land just inside the cut line. Bradley started strong on the front nine with four birdies and two bogeys, turning in a score of 34.

“I’m not saying I did this for Captain Bradley but I’m not denying that I did see him name at -6 while I was playing my 17th hole…,” he cheekily added as a plea to the Captain as he prepares for make his Captain’s pick for the Ryder Cup.

However, Kim’s Ryder Cup hopes are hanging by a thread. The 31-year-old currently sits 24th on the U.S. points list, which means he’ll need to do more than post cheeky jokes on X if he wants to earn a spot on the team..
