Fight fans are getting excited about the prospect of Conor McGregor making a long-awaited comeback.

The former dual-weight UFC champion hasn’t fought since breaking his leg during a trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.

Conor McGregor has spent the majority of his time on the sidelines talking up his return to competition.

In 2025, things went quiet on that front until Donald Trump made a massive announcement on Thursday.

Conor McGregor receives ‘winner takes all’ offer

The 47th president of the United States recently revealed that a UFC event will take place at the White House to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence

McGregor said ‘Count me in’ as he teased a UFC return after Trump’s shocking announcement.

Just two days prior, ‘Notorious’ received an interesting fight offer from one of his old rivals.

Former boxing world champion Paulie Malignaggi, who has been beefing with McGregor ever since their sparring session went viral in 2017, wants to do a ‘winner takes all’ fight with his long-time nemesis.

Magic Man is currently preparing to return to the ring in a bare-knuckle fight scheduled for September.

“Conor is a very insecure person, he sold our sparring session in the complete wrong way and he is always trying to one-up me,” Malignaggi told talkSPORT.

“Anything I do, he is always involved, it is always me responding, and it is never me initiating.

“You know he won’t do it [the fight]. He doesn’t have the balls to do it.

“I think with Conor, I’d only do it winner-takes-all. It would generate so much money so the winner would take the whole pot, whatever that is.

“I would only do it that way, it’s the punishment he deserves.”

Who else could Conor McGregor fight?

Michael Chandler appears to be the frontrunner to face McGregor in his UFC comeback fight.

The two men were supposed to fight in June 2024, but a toe injury forced McGregor out of their UFC 303 main event matchup.

Since then, Chandler’s standing in the sport has taken a hit after back-to-back losses inside the Octagon.

Still, McGregor maintained he has ‘unfinished business’ with Chandler after his most recent defeat to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314 in April.

Only time will tell if McGregor takes on Malignaggi, Chandler, or somebody else when he finally fights again.
