Alvin Kamara gets do-over after hilarious Wrigley Field first pitch

We don't think New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is quitting his day job.

On Saturday, the five-time Pro Bowler and 2017 Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year was in Chicago for NASCAR's third-annual street race, the Grant Park 165, scheduled for Sunday. In 2021, the auto racing company named Kamara its first Growth and Engagement Advisor.

Kamara celebrated the occasion by throwing the first pitch at Wrigley Field ahead of the second game in a three-game series between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals.

Well, first two pitches, technically.

Kamara received a do-over after a rough first take, when he one-hopped his pitch well left of the plate. Unhappy with his effort, Kamara remained on the mound for a second attempt.

While the accuracy issues persisted on pitch No. 2, it at least hit Clark the Cub's glove, which was good enough for the versatile NFL back. Fortunately for first-year Saints head coach Kellen Moore, the sequence shouldn't lead Kamara to consider a career change.

"The first one, I just let that s--- loose," he said with a smile while walking off the field in a video published by Saints social media.

In 2024, the eight-year NFL veteran started 14 games for the Saints, ending the season with 228 rush attempts for 950 yards (4.2 yards per attempt) and six touchdowns. He added 68 receptions for 543 yards and two receiving touchdowns.

Since being selected in the third round (No. 67 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, Kamara is the league's only player with at least 6,500 rushing yards and 4,500 receiving yards. Per Stathead research, he's one of 10 players in NFL history to reach those benchmarks for a career.
