Angel Reese earns some redemption with WNBA All-Star selection

Just like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese is a WNBA All-Star for the second time, earning a role as a reserve for the second straight season.

Reese, the seventh overall pick of the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA Draft, is the only player in league history to average a double-double.

This season, despite a slow start on the offensive end of the floor, Reese is averaging 12.4 points and a league-high 12.6 rebounds for the Sky, in addition to 3.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.6 blocks per game.

Reese is shooting 40.6 percent this season from the field, and she has improved her metrics across the board.

The second-year pro has seen her scoring and rebounding averages drop slightly, but she's also playing two fewer minutes.

However, Reese's overall field goal percentage has improved along with her percentage on three-point attempts, two-point attempts and free throws.

The 2024 runner-up for Rookie of the Year in the WNBA has doubled her assist production (1.9 to 3.8) from last season. There were some struggles early in the season, especially on two-point attempts.

During the first seven games of the season, Reese shot better than 40 percent from the field just once. In her past nine games, she's done it seven times, shooting 47 percent overall.

The former LSU star has also scored at least 10 points or grabbed at least nine rebounds in every game this season, except one.

Chicago will need to make a strong push to make the WNBA playoffs, as the Sky are currently 2.5 games out of eighth place at 5-11, but with Reese coming into her own, that feels possible.

Either way, Reese deserves some respect. She's a two-time All-Star, and there's no doubt she's earned it.
