Five-star CB Chauncey Kennon commits to 'dream school' Florida State

To say that five-star recruit Chauncey Kennon was a massive pickup for Florida State and head coach Mike Norvell would be an understatement.

Kennon, from Sarasota, Florida (Booker High School), is one of the top overall recruits in the 2026 class. He's ranked as the No. 2 cornerback in the country as well as the No. 27 overall recruit, according to 247Sports.

He has nearly 40 offers to his name and took official visits with schools like Georgia, Miami, Auburn and Florida, but Kennon ultimately committed to Florida State on Sunday.

For Kennon, this was a no-brainer. He grew up rooting for the Seminoles and everything about his experiences with FSU just felt right.

"It was a place that truly felt like home to me. There was nothing that went wrong," he told Zach Blostein of 247Sports regarding his decision. "Everything was top-tier for me. My experience was A-1. So I feel like there was no debating where I was going to go. I knew the whole time. Right after the OV (official visit), I committed on the spot. So I was solid for a minute."

Kennon took his official to FSU on June 13, though the decision was just announced on Sunday. He mentioned that he feels that he has a good relationship with everyone on the Seminoles' staff, including Norvell, but this is a commitment that was a long time coming for him.

"That is my dream school, coming up and being a dream school, I always dreamed of playing there," he said of Florida State. "I grew up watching Jameis Winston and all them boys."

Norvell looks to be building a strong class on the 2026 recruiting trail, and Kennon just became his top-ranked commitment. Florida State now has 22 commitments for its 2026 class, which is ranked No. 11 nationally
