Shane van Gisbergen's victory in Sunday's Grant Park 165 at the Chicago Street Course added to the No. 88 team's bank of playoff points. With seven races left in the regular season, here's what the Cup Series playoff picture looks like.
1. Kyle Larson (three wins)
2. Denny Hamlin (three wins)
3. Christopher Bell (three wins)
4. William Byron (one win)
5. Shane van Gisbergen (two wins)
6. Ryan Blaney (one win)
7. Austin Cindric (one win)
8. Joey Logano (one win)
9. Chase Briscoe (one win)
10. Josh Berry (one win)
11. Chase Elliott (one win)
12. Ross Chastain (one win)
13. Tyler Reddick (+143)
Reddick kept padding his points gap with a third-place finish in Chicago. He's still looking for his first win of the year, but he's in a great place on points should that victory not materialize.
14. Alex Bowman (+39)
Bowman gained a spot in the standings but remained 39 points above the cut line with an eighth-place finish in Chicago. The No. 48 team is on a roll right now, but it's far from being in what could be a comfortable position.
15. Chris Buescher (+35)
Buescher lost 17 points to the cut line after mechanical issues in Chicago relegated him to an 18th-place finish. Sonoma has been good to Buescher in recent years, however, and offers him the chance to either pad points or snag a win and lock up a playoff berth.
16. Bubba Wallace (+2)
What was once a gap of over 60 points to the cut line has been whittled to just two. Wallace lost 21 points after a 28th-place finish followed a skirmish with Bowman in the closing laps of Sunday's race. Sonoma has been one of Wallace's worst tracks, and he could find himself below the cut line at this time next week.
17. Ryan Preece (-2)
With Wallace's struggles and a seventh-place finish of his own, Preece is now one solid race at Sonoma away from being above the cut line. He's been good at road courses this season, and is in the cat bird's seat to take over the 16th spot on the grid.
18. AJ Allmendinger (-43)
A sixth-place finish in Chicago kept Allmendinger within striking distance of the cut line, but he's likely eyeing a win at either Sonoma or Watkins Glen to ensure him a spot in the postseason.
19. Kyle Busch (-46)
Busch showed signs of life in Chicago with a fifth-place effort and is in position to make a late charge and get back to the playoffs. He'll likely need a victory to do it, but it was nice to see the No. 8 have some pace in Chicago.
20. Erik Jones (-50)
Jones finished 25th in Chicago, but only lost a single point to the cut line. Like Busch, a win at Daytona is his best shot at the postseason, but it's a good sign that the No. 43 has been quick over the last month and change.
