Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff is going to have to make good on a fairly expensive guarantee he made to punter Jack Fox.
In a clip from season two of Netflix’s “Quarterback” series, Goff admitted that he had pledged to buy Fox free beer for a year if he led the NFL in net punting yards. Fox went on to do just that, and Goff is seen admitting that he has to follow through on the pledge.
“I bet Jack Fox at the beginning of the year. I said, ‘If you lead the league in net punting, I’ll get you Bud Light for a year.’ And right after the game, he said, ‘You owe me Bud Light for a year,'” Goff said after the Lions’ regular season finale in 2024.

Goff’s wife, Christen Harper, accuses Goff of having promised to buy Fox free beer for life, but Goff seemingly wriggled out of that one.
Among full-time punters, Fox did lead the NFL with a net punt average of 51 yards. That was 0.2 yards ahead of AJ Cole of the Las Vegas Raiders, and Fox clearly knew it, too.
The good news for Goff is he can certainly afford plenty of beer. He might want to be a bit more careful with his bets this season, though, since that one seems to have been quite motivational.
