Why Chelsea star Noni Madueke is right man for Arsenal

Arsenal have reportedly agreed to "personal terms" with right winger Noni Madueke to bring him to North London. Arsenal submitted a £50 million package with add-ons to Chelsea in exchange for Madueke.

However, Chelsea has stated that it wants more than £50m for the England international. That said, talks between the two clubs are ongoing and positive, and the deal is expected to be finalized within the next couple of days.

Let's examine three reasons why Madueke is the right man for Arsenal.

The versatility that is needed

The Chelsea winger has primarily been used on the right side during his time in the Premier League. He is more than capable of playing on the left, though.

It was only back in April that the Gunners lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semifinals. With four players on the bench lacking Champions League experience, it highlighted a massive lack of depth and versatility.

Teams know how Arsenal are going to play, and that is something that needs to change. Madueke had 20 goals over 67 games for Chelsea in the Premier League. That isn’t something to ignore.

A right-winger and a left-winger are needed

All talk has been about how Arsenal needs to bring in a left winger. As true as that is, a right winger of quality is also important. Bukayo Saka is one of the world's best players, but he has suffered from multiple injuries in the past. The workload has been tough on him, and having Madueke can help with that.

Losing Saka for three months during the season last year resulted in a significant drop-off. As good as Ethan Nwaneri was, he wasn’t Bukayo. Having someone like Madueke, who has more experience, would have helped during that period. You need to have a squad to fight on all fronts.

Finances are an issue

Arsenal is making numerous moves during the summer transfer window, and securing big-money signings is proving to be tough. In the world of financial fair play, you can’t just spend big anymore. As much as we would all love to see Rodrygo in the Premier League, he will come with a hefty price tag.

Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, along with the likes of Victor Gyokeres, are already a big outlay, even if most are in instalments. Trying to get Rodrygo and Eberechi Eze as well will just be too much. Madueke might not be the name many Arsenal fans want, but he is the type of player that they need to develop the squad into a title-winning one.
