Caitlin Clark looks more like herself in Fever win over Wings, Paige Bueckers

Caitlin Clark hasn't looked like herself since her return from injury, but in Sunday's 102-83 win by the Indiana Fever over the Dallas Wings, she took a big step in the right direction.

Clark still struggled with her shot. Yet, she made multiple three-pointers for just the second time in her past six games, going 2-of-7. The second-year WNBA All-Star Game captain finished with 14 points on 4-of-12 shooting.

However, Clark's impact went beyond her ability to score. She dished out 13 assists, a season-high, and only turned the ball over twice.

It doesn't help that WNBA officials continually allow Clark to get battered and bruised with the ball. She only attempted four free throws. She probably should have had 10.

The star guard doesn't need special treatment. She just needs rules to be enforced, especially on the perimeter.

Despite that, she still finished with double-digit assists for the fifth time this season. Her defense was excellent, too. Clark had five steals and a block, on top of three boards.

As a team, Indiana was flawless offensively. The Fever scored 64 points (a WNBA season-high) in the first half and could have made a run at the league record for team points in a game (127) if they didn't take their foot off the gas.

Guard Kelsey Mitchell was lights out, making two-thirds of her shots on her way to 20 points. Natasha Howard added 18, while fellow forward Aliyah Boston pitched in with 17. Indiana improved to 11-10 with its second straight win.

Rookie guard Paige Bueckers was stellar in the loss for the Wings, scoring 21 points, grabbing four rebounds and dishing out four assists.

Early on, the highly anticipated matchup lived up to the hype before the Fever ran away with it.

After a poor offensive performance against Golden State earlier in the week, Indiana has rebounded with back-to-back wins.

What should have Fever fans even more excited is that Clark is starting to look like herself again, such as when she buried a catch-and-shoot three-pointer early in the game.

More shots will start falling, and once they do, the Fever will be one of the most dangerous teams in the WNBA, just as they were expected to be.
