Alex Palou continues historic IndyCar season with win in second race of doubleheader at Iowa Speedway

One week after a mistake by Alex Palou gave way to a Scott Dixon victory at Mid-Ohio, Palou held off his Chip Ganassi teammate in the closing laps of Sunday's Farm to Finish 275 at Iowa Speedway.

The win is the seventh of 2025 for Palou through 12 races, continuing his dominant season and extending his championship lead over Pato O'Ward.

Josef Newgarden — who dominated Saturday's race at Iowa before falling to O'Ward — led with less than 30 laps to go after driving his way through the field, but lost the provisional lead to David Malukas during green-flag pit stops. When a caution came out for Colton Herta, Newgarden — along with Malukas and several other drivers — was trapped a lap down and out of winning contention.

"Speechless, honestly, speechless," Palou told Fox Sports. "It's been an unbelievable day, an unbelievable year for us. Seven wins in a season is insane."

Dixon, Marcus Armstrong, Malukas and O'Ward rounded out the top five, with Christian Lundgaard, Felix Rosenqvist, Christian Rasmussen, Robert Shwartzman and Newgarden completing the top 10.

Other notable finishers include Jacob Abel in 11th, Conor Daly in 16th, Kyle Kirkwood in 18th, Will Power in 24th and Scott McLaughlin in 26th.

Nolan Siegel did not compete in the race after he was not cleared to race following a hard crash in Saturday's race.

The 13th race of the 2025 NTT IndyCar Series season will take place on the streets of Toronto on July 13. The Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto will go green shortly after noon ET, with coverage on Fox and the IndyCar Radio Network.
