After splitting the first two games of the series, the Chicago Cubs took the rubber match over the New York Yankees on Sunday. Chicago now heads into the All-Star break with momentum thanks to its 4-1 win.
With two home runs as run support, the Cubs won the series thanks to dominance on the mound.
In contrast to New York, which had to use five pitchers in the game, Chicago starter Shota Imanaga pitched through seven innings and then only two relievers were needed to shut the door on a normally potent Yankees lineup.
Following a loss on July 8, Imanaga rebounded with one of his best performances of the season on Sunday. He gave up only one run and two hits while recording six strikeouts, including two from New York superstar Aaron Judge, a day after he hit his 350th career home run.

Then, once Imanaga exited the game, Drew Pomeranz and Daniel Palencia pitched one clean inning with a strikeout each to prevent the Yankees from mounting a comeback.
Offensively, first baseman Michael Busch led off the game with a solo shot and then shortstop Dansby Swanson crushed a two-run bomb to break a 1-1 tie in the sixth.

Busch now has 19 home runs in 90 games played, and Swanson has 16 in 95.
With the win, the Cubs complete the first half of the season at 57-39 and hold a narrow lead in the National League Central. Chicago is also 6-4 in its last 10 games, adding to the momentum it's gained by winning the series in New York.
