Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott comes in at No. 79 on the NFL’s Top 100 players of 2025 list, marking a significant drop from previous years. Once a regular in the top 75 of the rankings, Prescott’s fall reflects a 2024 season full of injuries and inconsistency.
Prescott only played in eight games last year before suffering a hamstring injury that kept him out for most of the year. The injury ended his season prematurely, and voters clearly took that into account. While his on-field performance early in the season showed flashes, the lack of availability ultimately hurt his standing among his peers.
Statistically, 2024 was one of Dak’s least efficient seasons, throwing for just 1,978 yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also finished his season with his second lowest completion percentage at 64.7 percent and a career low QBR of 45.3. This dip in efficiency caused the Cowboys offense to lack consistency and never gain any sort of rhythm.
Still, even after a disappointing season, he still remains in the top 100 which speaks volumes about how players view him. Despite the down year, his leadership, experience and presence in the locker room continue to earn him respect amongst his peers. When healthy, Prescott has proven he can perform at a high level and elevate those around him.
The good news for Cowboys fans is that Prescott appears to be back to full strength. In recent comments to reporters, he appeared to be in good spirits regarding his injuries.
"I'm healthy as I'll be," Prescott said to reporters, via Shanna Carriston of CBS Sports. "I'll be full go for camp. I'm healthy, yeah."
This offseason, Prescott has been seen training with his teammates including star wideout CeeDee Lamb and newcomer George Pickens to help build chemistry before training camp begins. He will also benefit from what appears to be a more talented offense than what was seen in 2024. With new faces such as Jaydon Blue and Tyler Booker in addition to potential growth from Tyler Guyton, the Dallas offense could get back on track.
Prescott’s No. 79 ranking might be lower than fans are used to seeing, but it sets the stage for a potential comeback season. With a healthy body, improved supporting cast and a full offseason of preparation, he should have the tools to get back on track and climb his way back into the top tier of NFL quarterbacks.
