NFL All-Breakout Team list shows the future of Giants' RB room

On Saturday, NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks published his 2025 NFL All-Breakout Team. This list is comprised mainly of second or third-year players who have shown flashes of greatness in their first couple of seasons.

At running back on this team is second-year running back for the Giants, Tyrone Tracy Jr. Tracy enjoyed a successful first season in New York. Totaling 839 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, along with 284 receiving yards and another touchdown through the air.

The 2024 fifth-round pick didn't break out until Week 5 when opening day starter Devin Singletary went down with an injury. In that Week 5 game against the Seahawks, Tracy rushed for 129 yards on 18 carries (7.2 yards per carry).

Going into 2025, ESPN has Tracy listed as the Giants' RB1, with Singletary as the RB2. Along with Tracy and Singletary, the Giants drafted Cam Skattebo in the fourth round of this year's draft.

Skattebo spent two years at Arizona State, totaling 3385 scrimmage yards and 34 total touchdowns. He broke out last year, finishing fifth in Heisman voting with 1711 rushing yards (second in the FBS behind Ashton Jeanty) on 293 attempts while finding the endzone a total of 24 times (21 rushing, 3 receiving).

In his time at Arizona State, Skattebo adopted a hard-hitting style of play, which led Bleacher Report to list his draft comparison as "a bigger and more physical Kyren Williams." Williams is already one of the NFL's most physical runners, ranking fifth in yards after contact (606) and third in broken tackles (27) in 2024.

The future at running back for the Giants is clearly the 25-year-old Tracy and the 23-year-old Skattebo. The combination of these two backs might bring back memories for Giants fans.

One ground and pound running back who's not afraid of a little contact, and a speedy, elusive back who can make defenders miss. This sounds just like Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw

Jacobs and Bradshaw were the Giants' two-headed monster in the backfield from 2007 to 2011. In that period, the Giants focused on running the ball. In 2007, 2008 and 2010, the Giants ranked top 10 in the league in team rushing yards, touchdowns and yards per game.

Jacobs and Bradshaw revolutionized the way teams use multiple running backs. Today, some teams use that method with two running backs, while others utilize a quarterback who's a rushing threat.

Some modern examples of a power and speed threat include the Detroit Lions with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, the Baltimore Ravens with Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson and the Philadelphia Eagles with Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts.

In the future, the Giants might have the next big running back duo. Skattebo can wear teams down with his physicality, while Tracy can use his explosiveness to break off big plays. If the duo can stay healthy, Giants fans can be excited about the future of their rushing attack.
