Josh Allen addresses what 'fuels' Bills after latest playoff loss to Chiefs

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was named the NFL's regular-season Most Valuable Player for the first time in his career in 2024. However, he also fell to 0-4 against the Kansas City Chiefs in postseason play, suffering a 32-29 defeat at Arrowhead Stadium in the AFC Championship Game.

During a recent chat with Jason Fitz of Yahoo Sports, Allen addressed how he and others in the Buffalo locker room plan to respond to the club's latest playoff loss to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

"It fuels us that much more to get over that hump, so we can stop hearing those things. But that's the game of football," Allen said. "It's the game of life, really. We got to keep working hard. We can't throw in the towel. We got to keep working until we find a way, and we're going to go up, we're going to go around, we're going to go under, we're going to go through it if we have to. We're going to keep working hard and just keep putting our head down and let the chips fall where they may."

According to NBC Connecticut's Mike Gavin, Allen is 4-1 against Mahomes and the Chiefs in the regular season. In January, Allen faced a fourth-and-five situation with two minutes left in regulation of the AFC Championship when a Kansas City blitz forced him to chuck a Hail Mary pass that tight end Dalton Kincaid was unable to secure before it hit the ground. The Chiefs subsequently ran the clock out to punch their ticket to Super Bowl LIX, where they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.

During the offseason, Allen received a six-year, $330M contract extension that included a record $250M in guaranteed money. According to Pro Football Reference, he and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens finished the 2024 regular season tied for first in the NFL with a 77.3 adjusted QBR. Per StatMuse, Allen was fourth in the league with 40 combined passing and rushing touchdowns.

"I think still just where my eyes are starting in some of our concepts, making sure that I'm getting through those concepts as quickly as possible," Allen added. "And I think the last thing is just mechanically making sure that I'm still as sound as I possibly can be...and making sure that, again, I'm doing everything off the field that I need to do to be the best that I can do on the field."

As of Tuesday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Bills, Ravens and Eagles tied as the betting favorites at +650 odds to win Super Bowl LX this coming February. To achieve that goal, Allen may first have to claim a victory over Kansas City that has thus far eluded him during his career.
