Caitlin Clark aggravated her groin injury during Tuesday’s game against the Connecticut Sun, and at least one person close to her thinks that the league bears some share of the blame.
Clark left the Indiana Fever’s 85-77 victory late and could be seen wincing down the stretch. It was her first game back after missing five games with a groin strain.

Clark continues to be the target of physical play from opponents, prompting some to argue that officials need to do a better job protecting her. Among those voices are Clark’s brother Colin, who sent a critical X post about the referees.
“Make no mistake, this is on the reffing,” Colin Clark wrote in a since-deleted post.

Clark herself was very frustrated with the officiating in Tuesday’s game, though it wasn’t clear what specifically set her off. It is entirely possible that she, too, is fed up with the physical play against her and wants the referees to be tougher on it.
The new groin injury puts Clark’s availability for the WNBA All-Star Game in some doubt. That is scheduled for Saturday, and it remains to be seen if she will be healthy enough to play by that point.
