Bo Bichette heaps praise onto 2025 Blue Jays amid recent surge

The Toronto Blue Jays (59-41) are one of the hottest teams in Major League Baseball. Monday night's 4-1 win over the rival New York Yankees was their fourth consecutive victory since returning from the All-Star break and a franchise-record 11th straight win at home.

Star shortstop Bo Bichette once again played a prominent role, driving in two runs, including the game-winning run, with a double in the fifth inning off Carlos Rodon. It was all Toronto needed, as Kevin Gausman and the bullpen shut the potent Yankees offense down the rest of the way.

The vibes are high around the Blue Jays right now, and that was shown in Bichette's postgame comments. Sportsnet Blue Jays broadcaster Hazel Mae shared what the 27-year-old had to say when asked how this 2025 Blue Jays team stacks up against previous ones he's been a part of.

High praise from Bichette, who is now up to 12 home runs and 57 RBI with a .282 average in 97 games on the season, though you can't argue it, given the recent success. Unlike other years, the 2025 Blue Jays have been all about their depth, getting contributions from up and down the lineup in all facets of the game.

The high-end talent on the 2021 team, which included the likes of Marcus Semien and Teoscar Hernandez, would give them a run for their money, but the depth and pitching on this year's squad are no comparison.

As we approach the trade deadline, a few additions could make an already dangerous Blue Jays team even better. It's certainly a year to go for it in an American League that feels wide open for the taking.

Toronto will look to keep the good times rolling in game two of their three-game set against the Yankees on Tuesday night at the Rogers Centre. Another win would increase their lead atop the AL East to a season-high five games.
