The Dallas Cowboys are living with the ramifications of trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, and management is looking at finding a Band-Aid for the defense this season.
On Friday, executive vice president Stephen Jones told 105.3 The Fan that Dallas had a great visit with Jadeveon Clowney, but the defensive end wanted to wait before making his decision on who to sign with. The Cowboys are willing to sign Clowney if he wants to move to Dallas, with Jones admitting the defense is "obviously missing" edge help after trading Parsons.

Clowney, 32, recorded 46 tackles and 5.5 sacks for the Carolina Panthers last season. In 2023, the All-Pro tied a career-high 9.5 sacks for the Baltimore Ravens. Jones doesn't think Clowney will be asked to play the entire game for the defense, but believes he could be a disruptor on passing downs.
Dallas sacked Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts one time in Week 1. The Cowboys need more of a pass rush if they're going to be competitive this season. Clowney would provide a boost to their trenches. However, Clowney might want to sign with a team that has a chance of making a postseason run. It would be in the Cowboys' interest to avoid starting the season 0-2 when they play the New York Giants on Sunday if they hope to sign Clowney soon.
