Alex Palou inches closer to history with dominant Laguna Seca win

Depending on who you ask, there are either no words or not enough words to describe Alex Palou's 2025 NTT IndyCar Series campaign.

Through 14 races - including Palou's whipping of the field on Sunday at Laguna Seca - Palou has won eight times, scored 11 top-five finishes and led 563 laps.

Palou led 84 of 95 laps at Laguna Seca on Sunday in his latest field-stomping, bringing him two wins away from tying A.J. Foyt and Al Unser for the most wins in an IndyCar season.

If Palou were to close out the year by winning the final three races - Portland, Milwaukee and Nashville - he would have 11 wins and break the aforementioned record.

Despite his dominance and his pursuit of history, Palou is yet to officially clinch the 2025 IndyCar title.

Palou clinched the 2023 IndyCar championship with a win at Portland. He could clinch his fourth championship in a similar way on Aug. 10. He's yet to win at either Milwaukee or Nashville, but in a year where the only constant in IndyCar has been Palou's dominance, you'd be a fool to count him out.

Time will tell if Palou makes history, but the fact that he's on the verge of it proves how dominant his 2025 season has been.
