Current Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams most recently shared an offense with Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers when the old friends were with the New York Jets last season.
During a Tuesday appearance on the ESPN "Get Up" program, former Steelers safety and current NFL analyst Ryan Clark offered some information about Rodgers that may excite Steelers fans ahead of August.
"I actually hung out a little bit with Davante Adams [Monday]," Clark explained during the show segment, per Troy Montgomery of Steelers Depot. "We were having a conversation and he was saying, 'People comparing Aaron Rodgers to some of the bottom-half of the quarterbacks in the NFL have absolutely lost their mind.' [Adams] said, 'Being in that building with [Rodgers] towards the end of the season, you could start to see it coming back for Aaron Rodgers, the future Hall of Famer.'"
Rodgers reportedly dealt with a nagging hip problem, injuries to both his knees, a low ankle sprain and a serious hamstring issue last fall as the Jets fell to 3-10 on what became a lost season for the organization. However, the 41-year-old then tallied eight touchdown passes and three interceptions over his final four games, two of which were victories.
When Rodgers was still a free agent this past spring, a report indicated that he was "feeling significantly better" after some rest and recovery.
The Las Vegas Raiders traded Adams to the Jets last October, and he recorded 67 receptions for 854 yards and seven touchdowns across 11 games with the AFC East side. Of course, he and Rodgers were first teammates with the Green Bay Packers from 2014 to 2021. Thus, Adams has a pretty good idea of what it looks like when Rodgers is at his best.
Rodgers seemingly has flashed plenty of arm talent during the early days of training camp with the Steelers. That doesn't necessarily mean he'll light the scoreboard up when Pittsburgh opens the upcoming season with a matchup versus the Jets on Sept. 7, but it sounds like Adams thinks Gang Green could be in for a rough day at MetLife Stadium that Sunday afternoon.
