Ravens' John Harbaugh speaks out after veteran TE suffers training-camp injury

The Baltimore Ravens were expected to come into the 2025 season with one of the better one-two punches at tight end in the league, but that plan has hit a bump in the road.

It's not a catastrophic bump and both the player and the Ravens are likely to recover, but you never want to see a key piece go down in training camp.

That was the case on Tuesday, though, when tight end Isaiah Likely rolled his ankle.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound tight end is going to get an MRI on Wednesday, but head coach John Harbaugh revealed that Likely may miss a few weeks of practice.

Harbaugh is relieved the injury happened when it did, though.

"We'll know more [Wednesday]," Harbaugh said, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com. "We'll get an MRI and see exactly what needs to be done. It's good it's this early in camp."

This is going to be a big season for Likely, as he's heading into the final year of his rookie deal. The Ravens selected him with the 139th pick (fourth round) of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Coastal Carolina. Since then, he's become one of the better No. 2 tight ends in the league behind Mark Andrews.

As a rookie, Likely caught 36 passes for 373 yards and three touchdowns. He caught 30 passes for 411 yards and five touchdowns in year two, and 42 passes for 477 yards and six touchdowns in year three.

A sign of a good player, Likely has improved each season, and he's become a strong option for Lamar Jackson down the field.

To this point, Likely has been a durable player. He's only missed two games in his career due to injury.

It does sound like he'll make it back from this one in short time, pending that MRI.
