Davante Adams praises Jimmy Garoppolo, shades Raiders in candid interview

With Matthew Stafford out for the start of Rams training camp, veteran backup Jimmy Garoppolo has taken over as the starting quarterback.

The change at quarterback unexpectedly reunites Garoppolo with Davante Adams, his former teammate for a year with the Las Vegas Raiders. The duo’s time together in Vegas was rocky, and filled with controversy, inconsistent quarterback play and tension within the locker room. But in a recent interview with ESPN LA’s Sedano & Kap, Adams made it clear that any lingering tension between them is long gone.

"I love Jimmy. It was never a personal thing, and I was hoping we didn't have to have these [conversations]…It's been amazing. We got to catch up and get on the right page. Obviously, that was just a dark moment in all of our lives. I think all of us were pretty miserable over there. And we kind of caught up and laughed about it and we've been making plays since we've been out here, so it's been fun."

Adams did not hold back when referring to his time with the Raiders, describing it as a "dark moment" and implying that most of the roster at the time was unhappy. His comments add even more confirmation to what many people suspected was actually going on behind the scenes in Las Vegas during that time. While his quote was not directly about the Raiders, the phrase “all of us were pretty miserable over there” says plenty.

Despite Adams time with Las Vegas being filled with controversy and misfortune, Adams managed to stay very productive. Now with the Rams, and able to play with stability for the first time since his time in Green Bay, Adams could be in for a massive year. While for now he is reunited with Garoppolo, soon Stafford will return. When he does, the Rams will have a great chance to be very competitive and potentially make a deep playoff run. But for now, during training camp, it will be very fun to see the former Raiders duo now getting the job done in L.A.
