Bucs QB lands at No. 50 on NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2025

Baker Mayfield’s career resurgence continues to gain momentum, as the Tampa Bay quarterback just landed at No. 50 on the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2025. It marks his first appearance since 2021 where he clocked in at No. 71. After bouncing between teams and facing a ton of questions about his long-term NFL future, Mayfield has been able to firmly re-establish himself as a productive starter in the league.

In 2024, Mayfield started in 17 games and posted the best numbers of his career. He had a completion percentage of 71.4%, totaling 4,500 yards, 41 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. He also added an additional 378 rushing yards and three rushing scores. While the turnovers did become an issue at times, his overall efficiency and command of the offense helped lead the Bucs to their second consecutive NFC South title and playoff appearance.

Mayfield’s season drew league-wide recognition, as he received a Pro Bowl nod and some buzz in MVP conversations. With a career high in passing yards and passing touchdowns, the former No. 1 overall pick earned every bit of his spot in the Top 100. His newfound dominance was especially rewarding for a Buccaneers franchise that took a chance on him at a down point in his career. Now he has rewarded them with stability at the quarterback positions and back-to-back division titles.

As he enters 2025, he’ll be faced with a new challenge of maintaining that level of play without offensive coordinator Liam Coen, who left to become the head coach in Jacksonville. Even so, Mayfield has shown the ability to adapt and adjust quickly, even when circumstances are not ideal.
