Shedeur Sanders isn't being given any chances to gain chemistry with the Cleveland Browns' first-team offense, so his best bet is to target this veteran wide receiver who is turning heads at training camp.
On Friday, Sanders is set to make his debut as the starter for the Browns in their first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.
The former Colorado QB is only being given the starting duties because of hamstring injuries to quarterbacks Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel.
Sanders' best chance to impress head coach Kevin Stefanski's coaching staff might be to throw to Jerry Jeudy as a security blanket. Per ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi, Jeudy has been the standout player at Browns camp this summer.
"The Browns' first, and lone, joint practice session with the Carolina Panthers was a penalty-filled one for Cleveland's offense, which was flagged for multiple pre-snap infractions. But it was a big day for wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, who had a pair of one-handed grabs in team drills and was a frequent target throughout the practice ...
"In what will be a rather unproven wide receiver room for the Browns in 2025, Jeudy has cemented himself as Cleveland's top pass-catching target. Despite the Browns shuffling through quarterbacks in their position battle, Jeudy has made himself a reliable option for whoever is throwing the ball."
Jeudy, 26, is entering his sixth season in the league and his second with the Browns. The 2020 first-round pick by the Denver Broncos has his best season in 2024, recording 90 catches for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns.
Jeudy appears ready to have another big season in 2025. Sanders would be smart to get the ball into Jeudy's hands quickly, and let the former Alabama standout do the work afterwards.
And that's what the eventual starting quarterback for the Browns should be doing in the regular season as well.
