The preseason sometimes feels pointless to fans, and for starters in the NFL, it can be a dangerous time where they could get hurt in what is ultimately a meaningless game.
For fringe roster players and late-round draft picks, though, playing well in the preseason can literally be the difference between making a team and being a free agent.
When you're on the fringe, every opportunity to make a name for yourself matters. So what if the game technically doesn't count, the more good film you can put out there, the better.
Speaking of good film, Baltimore Ravens' rookie wide receiver LaJohntay Wester got himself a highlight reel moment in the Ravens' first preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts.
He was returning a punt inside of his own 15-yard line late in the first quarter. Thanks to some good blocking as well as great elusiveness and a burst of speed, Wester ended up taking it to the house for an 87-yard touchdown return.

Wester played for Deion Sanders at Colorado in 2024, where he caught 74 passes for 931 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The Ravens selected him in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he's now almost assuredly made the team.
