The Indiana Fever, without Caitlin Clark for a ninth straight game, couldn't have asked for a worse end to their West Coast road trip. They ended it with a 35-point loss to the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday.
But the Fever suffered much more than just the loss, and going into Saturday's game against the Chicago Sky, they will be without any true point guards.
Clark remains out due to her groin injury, which would mark her 19th missed regular-season game. But both of Indiana's backup point guards have been ruled out for the rest of the season. Sydney Colson suffered a torn left ACL against the Mercury, while Aari McDonald broke a bone in her right foot in Thursday's game.
The Fever shared the news about Colson and McDonald on social media, posting a photo of the two guards side by side.
"Sydney Colson (left ACL tear) and Aari McDonald (broken bone in right foot) will both miss the remainder of the season after suffering injuries during our game in Phoenix on Thursday," the Fever wrote.
Clark reposted it to her Instagram Story, tagging Colson and McDonald with a message.
"love you guys," Clark captioned her story.

Colson was quick to respond to Clark, sending her own three-word message in return.
"Love you too," Colson posted to her own story.
With Clark, Colson and McDonald all ruled out for Saturday's game against the Sky, the Fever will be without any true point guards. They will likely have Kelsey Mitchell running point for the time being, who averages 3.0 assists per game.
Still, even if Clark returns, Indiana will have to address its point guard depth. The Fever will have the option to sign someone to an emergency hardship contract (seven days) or a rest-of-season deal.
Colson began the season as Clark's main backup and appeared in 30 games for Indiana, averaging 2.4 points and 2.0 assists in 13.5 minutes per game. She saw a decrease in her role when the Fever signed Aari McDonald, who shone for her new team immediately.
Following the Sky game, the Fever will be back in action on Tuesday, hosting the Dallas Wings. Clark's status for that game still remains up in the air.
