NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Stewart Friesen has made a decision on his 2025 playoff future.
After being injured in a dirt race on July 28, Friesen will miss the remainder of the 2025 Truck Series season. By virtue of his win at Michigan, however, he was locked into the playoff field, creating an interesting situation for the Halmar Friesen team.
Despite the fact that he wouldn't be able to race, Friesen still could have applied for a playoff waiver in order to receive a bigger payout at season's end. On Thursday, however, he announced that he wouldn't be seeking a waiver from NASCAR.
Kaden Honeycutt — who has qualified for the Truck Series playoffs on points — will drive Friesen's No. 52 Toyota for the final eight races after he was released from Niece Motorsports.
"We look forward to chasing a driver's championship with Kaden Honeycutt and continuing the owner's title push when the playoffs begin," Halmar Friesen Racing said in a social media post.

Per Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass, the difference in payout if Friesen had procured a playoff waiver would've been about one percent higher than it will be when the season concludes.
After missing the Aug. 8 race at Watkins Glen, Friesen fell to 14th in the regular-season standings. With eight races remaining in the 2025 season, he is 195 points above Frankie Muniz, who is last among full-time drivers in the standings in 23rd.
