Spire Motorsports exec addresses Justin Haley rumors, 2025 struggles

It's safe to say that Justin Haley's stock has fallen significantly since the start of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Haley, 26, was once deemed a top prospect for top Cup Series rides. But in his fourth full-time Cup Series season and his first with Spire Motorsports, the Winamac, Indiana, native has struggled to find his footing.

Through 24 races, Haley sits 30th in the standings — the worst of his Spire teammates — with only one top-10 finish.

On Thursday, Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson appeared on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio to discuss Haley's performance through the first two-thirds of 2025.

"It's no secret that Justin and that team, they just haven't performed up to the expectations that we've set for them," Dickerson said. "That is something that we're constantly discussing. I've been super proud of Justin the last few weeks, because with all these rumors swirling around, I thought he put together a couple really good weeks.

"As we've evolved as a company, we are at a place where we have to meet those expectations. It's just not good enough for us to make it to the racetrack anymore, or just run 30th anymore. We just can't do it. Justin is under no more pressure than us, or me, to perform."

With 12 races left in the 2025 season, Haley will have to turn some heads in order to regain Spire's confidence moving forward. A big step in doing so would be winning one of the final two races of the regular season and qualifying for the Cup Series playoffs — something that could be done if Haley, who earned his lone Cup win at Daytona in July 2019, could snag another Daytona win on Aug. 23.
