It's been an incredible season for Philadelphia Phillies starting pitchers, and lefty Jesus Luzardo capped off another remarkable feat for the rotation on Wednesday afternoon.
Luzardo recorded 12 strikeouts against the Seattle Mariners, becoming the third Phillies starter of the three-game series to reach double-digits in punchouts.

Fellow southpaw Ranger Suarez tied his career high in Ks on Monday with 10, while Cristopher Sanchez struck out 12 on Tuesday.
With 34 total strikeouts, it became the most by Phillies starting pitchers over a three-game set. The previous high was 30, last accomplished in 2010, and twice in 1950, per the NBC Sports Philadelphia broadcast.

The trio even kept American League MVP frontrunner Cal Raleigh at bay, as the slugging catcher went 1-for-12 with eight strikeouts. Overall, Philadelphia's pitching struck out Seattle hitters 45 times.
The Phillies were just as successful offensively, outscoring the Mariners 29-13, setting a new franchise record for hits in a three-game series with 48.

It was an encouraging outing for Suarez, who's posted a 5.86 ERA in 35.1 innings in the second half, and Luzardo, who has struggled with consistency since May.
Sanchez, meanwhile, has firmly cemented his name in the National League Cy Young conversation with his continued success.
The 28-year-old will now shoulder the pressure of being the team's ace since Zack Wheeler landed on the injured list with a blood clot. His timeline to return is unknown.
Luckily, Sanchez seems up for the challenge.
Taijuan Walker has also stepped up amid injuries to the pitching staff, with a respectable 3.34 ERA across 91.2 innings, and Aaron Nola recently returned from an extended stay on the injured list. However, he struggled in his first start since May on Sunday.
Should Wheeler return, Philadelphia's starting staff appears to be in great shape as they look to secure their second straight National League East title and a deep postseason run.
