Justin Rose had classy social media post about Tommy Fleetwood's win

Tommy Fleetwood finally managed to finish the job at a PGA Tour event on Sunday, and the reaction from his peers served as a reminder of just how overdue the victory was.

Fleetwood won the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, with a score of 18 under, which was three shots better than second-place finishers Russell Henley and Patrick Cantlay. The event was the final one of the official PGA Tour season and secured F leetwood the FedEx Cup and the $10M bonus that comes along with it.

More importantly, the victory was the first of Fleetwood's career on the PGA Tour. The 34-year-old has seven wins on the DP World Tour but had never won a PGA Tour event before Sunday. He had come incredibly close, however, with 30 top-five finishes on the PGA Tour heading into the Tour Championship.

Even some of the other members of the field on Sunday could not help but feel elated for Fleetwood. One of them was fellow Englishman Justin Rose, who had an incredibly classy post on social media following the conclusion of the Tour Championship.

"This felt as good as winning myself! So happy for my man @TommyFleetwood1for enduring the relentless press ure cooker his quality golf has put him in during these playoffs and there is no more deserving champ," Rose wrote on X.

Rose was also shown on the NBC broadcast celebrating as Fleetwood put the finishing touches on the win.

Fleetwood had grown more accustomed to heartbreak than arguably any golfer in PGA Tour history. According to ESPN Research, Fleetwood's 30 top-five finishes without a win before Sunday were the most from a PGA Tour player without a win in 100 years.

This season had been particularly painful for Fleetwood. He had a two-shot lead with three holes to play two weeks ago at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, which was the first event of the FedEx Cup playoffs. Fleetwood went par, bogey, par to finish that tournament and was left out of a playoff, which was won by Rose over J.J. Spaun.

Fleetwood was likely even more disgusted on June 22, when he had a one-shot lead going into the final hole at the Travelers Championship and three-putted to lose to Keegan Bradley.

Now that he has gotten over the hump, it will be interesting to see if Fleetwood can unlock his full potential.
