The PGA Tour regular season is officially in the books, which means it's time to shift our focus to the 2025 Ryder Cup coming up on Sept. 26. Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald have only a few days left to finalize their rosters with six captain's picks, so let's try to predict how those selections will shake out.
Automatic qualifiers: Scottie Scheffler, J.J. Spaun, Xa nder Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English, Bryson DeChambeau
Captain's pick predictions:
Justin Thomas — Thomas wasn't much of a factor after winning the RBC Heritage and finishing T2 at the Truist Championship in the spring, but he finished the season strong with four under-par rounds and a T7 at the Tour Championship. Team USA needs his elite iron play.
Cameron Young — After being on the bubble for most of the season, Young made a statement down the stretch with a win and two top-five finishes in his last four starts. Young is one of the longest drivers in the game and is riding a hot putter, so he's a perfect fit for Bethpage Black.
Sam Burns — Burns is the best American putter in the world, and you can't leave that weapon off the team. It doesn't hurt that he's best friends with Scheffler, either.
Ben Griffin — Griffin deserves a spot on the roster after recording two wins and 10 top-10 finishes in 2025. He would join Spaun as the only other Ryder Cup rookie on the U.S. squad.
Patrick Cantlay — Cantlay's 15-6-1 record in team events is impossible to ignore. Bradley won't leave him off the team.
Collin Morikawa — This spot could be Bradley's as a playing captain, but he would be a more effective leader on the sidelines. Don't be surprised if Morikawa gets left off the team for Chris Gotterup or Brian Harman after a rough finish to the season.

Automatic qualifiers: Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Rasmus Hojgaard, Tyrrell Hatton
Captain's pick predictions:
Jon Rahm — Not much analysis needed here. Rahm is a top-five player in the world and a stone-cold lock to make the team.
Ludvig Aberg — Aberg played well in his Ryder Cup debut in 2023, and his combination of elite total driving and long-iron play is ideal for Bethpage.
Viktor Hovland — Hovland's consistency is always a worry, but his ceiling as an iron player and putter makes him a no-brainer pick for his third Ryder Cup.
Shane Lowry — Lowry is a great alternate-shot player because he's accurate off the tee and is a great iron player. He'll be on the team even though he struggled down the stretch of the season.
Matt Fitzpatrick — Fitzpatrick was off the Ryder Cup radar for a while, but he finished strong with five top-10 finishes in his last seven starts to secure his spot.
Sepp Straka — Straka is one of just two Europeans to win multiple times on the PGA Tour this season. The other is McIlroy.
