Liverpool is reportedly preparing an audacious double swoop before the transfer window closes, with Newcastle striker Alexander Isak and Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi high on its list of targets.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Reds are increasingly confident of striking a late deal for Guehi. Palace value their captain at more than £40M ($54M), but with the center-back entering the final year of his contract, pressure is mounting on the south London club to cash in.

Manager Oliver Glasner has insisted Guehi remains a key part of his plans, though chairman Steve Parish has suggested a pragmatic approach may be required to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.
The 25-year-old is expected to feature in Palace’s Europa Conference League play-off against Norwegian side Fredrikstad on Thursday, but his long-term future remains unresolved. Liverpool, keen to reinforce its defensive options, is monitoring developments closely.
The bigger headline, however, centers on Isak. Liverpool is pushing hard to lure the Sweden international from St James’ Park, with Newcastle having already rejected a £110M ($148.5M) offer.
The Magpies are holding out for closer to £150M ($202.6M), though reports indicate Liverpool could return with a new bid in the region of £130M ($175.5M), which would represent a British-record fee.
Isak is understood to be keen on the move, having rejected attempts from Newcastle officials to persuade him to stay. The striker has been training separately from the first team, further fueling speculation that a deal could be on the horizon.
Landing both players would underline Liverpool’s intent ahead of the Sept. 1 deadline. Isak would provide a marquee addition in attack, joining the likes of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa and summer arrivals Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong.
Guehi, meanwhile, would add proven Premier League pedigree and youth to a defense still heavily reliant on Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.
If successful, the combined outlay could reach around £165M ($222.8m), with Liverpool’s summer spending already sitting close to $400M.
With Palace reluctant to lose its captain and Newcastle under no obligation to sell its star striker, obstacles remain, but Liverpool’s growing confidence points to the prospect of one of the most dramatic deadline-day double swoops in recent memory.
