Tottenham Hotspur have intensified their pursuit of Xavi Simons, with the Netherlands international reportedly holding talks in London this week amid rival interest from Chelsea.
The 22-year-old has been excused from RB Leipzig training to assess his options, with the Bundesliga side valuing him at around £60M ($81M).
Reports suggest Spurs have already held positive discussions and could be prepared to meet Leipzig’s demands, while Chelsea are still weighing up whether to make a formal move.
Xavi Simons has arrived in London with his camp in order to clarify future move soon, authorized by Leipzig.

Simons has long been admired at Stamford Bridge, but Tottenham’s intent looks stronger at this stage. Thomas Frank's side are prioritizing a creative midfielder before the transfer deadline after missing out on Eberechi Eze to Arsenal earlier in the summer.
With James Maddison sidelined by a long-term injury and Son Heung-min departing for Major League Soccer, Spurs view Simons as an ideal fit for the No. 10 role.
The Dutchman’s versatility only enhances his appeal. Although he featured mainly on the left of Leipzig’s midfield three last season, recording 17 goal involvements in 25 league appearances, he can also operate as a second striker or in wider attacking positions.
That flexibility is said to be highly valued within Spurs, who enjoy a strong working relationship with Leipzig.
Chelsea, meanwhile, remain in the frame. Fresh from completing the high-profile signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United, the Blues continue to monitor Simons closely but have yet to submit a bid.
With their summer spending already considerable, there are suggestions that Financial Fair Play restrictions could complicate a move unless further sales are made.
Simons is believed to be open to a Premier League switch, with both London clubs offering appealing projects. For Tottenham, his arrival would represent one of the most significant transfers of the window. For Chelsea, it would be another statement addition to a squad already brimming with attacking talent.
With the deadline approaching, the race for Simons is set to intensify. Spurs currently appear to hold the advantage, but a late move from Chelsea cannot be ruled out in what is shaping up as a high-stakes London tug-of-war.
