The Buffalo Bills are adding a former draft pick at wide receiver before they play the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1.
Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Bills are signing Gabe Davis to the practice squad while he recovers from a season-ending meniscus injury from last season.
"A return to Buffalo: Free-agent WR Gabe Davis is signing with the Buffalo Bills, per sources," Schefter posted on X. "Davis initially will be on Buffalo’s practice squad as he continues to recover from last season’s torn meniscus and gets ready to return to play."

The Bills drafted Davis in the fourth round of the 2020 draft. He appeared in 64 games for Buffalo and started 47, recording 163 receptions for 2,730 yards, and 27 touchdowns in his first four seasons in the league.
With the Bills having cap space issues in 2024, Davis left Buffalo to sign a three-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars last March worth $39M, with $24M guaranteed. The former UCF standout played in 10 games for the Jaguars before suffering a torn meniscus. He recorded 20 receptions for 239 yards and two touchdowns with Jacksonville.
The Jaguars released Davis in May amid his injury and the addition of Travis Hunter in the first round of April's draft.
The Bills are gaining a familiar player with tremendous upside for later in the season and likely the postseason. If injuries occur at receiver during the regular season, Davis is a preferable target for quarterback Josh Allen.
Allen hit Davis for four touchdowns in a 42-36 overtime loss in the divisional round of the 2021 playoffs, giving Davis the league record for most touchdown receptions in a single postseason game.
