A’ja Wilson was not the only member of the Las Vegas Aces getting recognized for the team’s dominance in August.

On Wednesday, Aces head coach Becky Hammon was named Coach of the Month by the WNBA.

Since losing to the Minnesota Lynx 111-58 on Aug. 2, Hammon has galvanized the team to a franchise record-tying 12-game win streak. In that time, the Aces have ranked in the top five in scoring (84.9 points per game), rebounds (34 rpg), blocks (4.9 bpg) and three-point percentage (37.6%).

This is Hammon’s first time this season winning the award and fourth overall (May 2022, June 2023, September 2024). She has tied Sandy Brondello and former Aces head coach Bill Laimbeer for the most monthly awards given to a head coach with four apiece.

With the Aces’ playoff spot secured and hoping to keep a hold of the second overall seed, Hammon and her team have their focus set on revenge against the Lynx on Thursday at T-Mobile Arena as they hope to make franchise history.
