Carlos Alcaraz won yet another Grand Slam championship on Sunday when he defeated No. 1 seed Jannik Sinner (6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4) to win the 2025 U.S. Open. It is the sixth Grand Slam championship of his career (as well as his second of 2025, after the French Open) and his second U.S. Open championship.
That win puts him into some pretty rare company and continues him on a path that could make him one of the sport's all-time greats.
Not only is Alcaraz already a six-time Grand Slam champion, but he has done so before turning 23 years old. With his win on Sunday, he also becomes just the fourth man to win multiple major titles on each surface, joining only Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Mats Wilander.
Alcaraz has now won multiple titles on grass (Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024), clay (French Open in 2024 and 2025) and now the hard court with U.S. Open wins in 2022 and 2025.

At this point, the only Grand Slam tournament he has not won is the Australian Open, having reached the quarterfinals two times (2024 and 2025).
Along with that, winning multiple U.S. Open titles before turning 23 years old also puts him in rare company, joining only John McEnroe and Pete Sampras as the only other men to accomplish that feat.

It was fitting that Sunday's championship featured Alcaraz and Sinner because they have been the two most dominant men's players in the sport over the past couple of years, especially when it comes to the Grand Slam events.
Alcaraz and Sinner have now alternated championships in the four Grand Slam tournaments for eight consecutive tournaments.
Going back to the 2024 Australian Open, the men's major winner has been one of these two men.
That is an incredible run by the top two men's players in the world right now.
