Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin is targeting Week 5 for his return from an ankle injury suffered last season, NFL Network reported Sunday.

Godwin, who is inactive for Sunday's season-opening game against the host Atlanta Falcons, would be in line to return to the field for the Buccaneers' road game versus the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 5.

Per the report, Weeks 6 or 7 also could be in play for the return of Godwin after he recently underwent surgery to "tighten up some hardware" in his ankle.

Godwin, 29, was activated from the physically unable to perform list on Aug. 21.

He is coming back from a fractured ankle sustained in Tampa Bay's Week 7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens last season. He wrapped up 2024 with 50 receptions for 576 yards and five touchdowns and signed a three-year, $66M contract over the offseason to return to Tampa Bay.

Across 111 career games with the Bucs, Godwin has racked up 579 catches for 7,266 yards and 39 TDs, along with two rushing scores. He made the Pro Bowl in 2019.
