Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season is almost in the books, so it's a good time to sift through the fantasy fallout and predict which strong or disappointing performances are here to stay. Here are our top five fantasy takeaways from Week 1.
Fantasy football managers were understandably wary about Fields in a tough matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1, but he quelled all doubts with 266 total yards and three total touchdowns. Josh Allen is the only QB who's scored more fantasy points than Fields (29.52) in Week 1.
Fields, thanks to his high rushing floor, has been a top-10 fantasy quarterback in points per game in each of the past three seasons. All he needs to be a fantasy star is opportunity, and he has that with the New York Jets this year.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba was an absolute menace today.

All summer, I talked about his fit with Sam Darnold in the intermediate passing game over the middle. He might lead the NFL in targets this season. pic.twitter.com/DtFvWQ1y1T
The Seattle Seahawks attempted only 23 passes in Week 1, but Smith-Njigba still balled out with nine catches on 13 targets for 124 yards (19.4 PPR points). JSN's 59.1 percent target share was the highest mark of any pass-catcher in the NFL in Week 1. He's a top-10 fantasy wide receiver with WR1 upside if the Seahawks increase their passing volume.
If you waited to draft a tight end and ended up with Warren, you should feel ecstatic after Week 1. The rookie tight end saw a team-high nine targets and caught seven passes for 76 yards against the Miami Dolphins.
As Michael Pittman Jr. put it after the game, "We could spam him with targets, and he could have 200 yards the way that he plays." Warren already looks to be the focal point of the Indianapolis Colts' passing game.
Star wide receivers struggled all over the NFL in Week 1, but some performances were more concerning than others. Collins, for example, caught only three of his five targets for 25 yards (5.5 PPR points) against the Los Angeles Rams. The Texans WR thrives on deep routes, but Houston's offensive line didn't give C.J. Stroud any time to throw on Sunday. That problem isn't going away anytime soon.
As for Hill, he saw a team-high six targets against the Colts but turned them into just four catches for 40 yards (8.0 PPR points). Tua Tagovailoa and the offensive line weren't effective enough for any of Miami's pass-catchers to be successful, and Hill showed his frustration on the sidelines. This might be a dysfunctional offense all season.

Croskey-Merritt shot up fantasy draft boards after a strong preseason, and he showed why in Week 1. The Washington Commanders rookie rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries (14.2 PPR points) in his NFL debut against the New York Giants. Croskey-Merritt was by far the most effective running back on Washington's offense, and his workload should only increase as the season goes on.
