Why Micah Parsons could dominate 'TNF' matchup vs. Jayden Daniels

Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders is one of the NFL's more mobile quarterbacks. But he may not outrun Green Bay Packers edge-rusher Micah Parsons on "Thursday Night Football."

Parsons, 26, wants to showcase his horsepower in Green Bay's home matchup against Washington at 8:15 p.m. ET (Prime Video).

Micah Parsons explains how he'll stop Jayden Daniels

"You got horse engines now. I don't see nobody outrunning me from the edge," Parsons said Tuesday, via Field Level Media. "I played [Daniels] a bunch. He knows — it's different. He's used to those 6-5, 265 D-ends. I just got to make sure I get vertical if I'm going to take the inside move. We're going to give up some five-yard runs or something. He's going to get loose once or twice. We just have to make sure it's not consecutive."

Expect Parsons (6-foot-3, 250 pounds) to back up his claim.

Micah Parsons has feasted in previous matchups against Washington Commanders

Per Stats Perform, Parsons has 10.5 sacks in eight career games against the Commanders, five more than he has against any other team. He logged 4.5 sacks in two games against Daniels last season. The only QB Parsons has sacked more is Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles (five).

This offseason, the Commanders upgraded their offensive line to better protect Daniels. They acquired five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil in a trade with the Houston Texans and took Oregon right tackle Josh Conerly Jr. with pick No. 29 of the 2025 NFL Draft.

But even Commanders head coach Dan Quinn, who coached Parsons for three seasons in Dallas, knows that may not be enough.

"I'd sit him this week," the former Cowboys defensive coordinator quipped Tuesday, via Bill Huber of Green Bay Packers on SI.

The Commanders allowed three sacks for a loss of 21 yards in their 21-6 Week 1 win over the New York Giants. If the retooled O-line continues to struggle against Parsons and company, 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year Daniels could be in for a long night.
