The Philadelphia Eagles will be a little short-handed on offense when they play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in a rematch of February's Super Bowl.
Per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Eagles ruled out tight end Dallas Goedert for Week 2. "Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs," Pelissero posted on X.

Goedert caught the most passes (seven catches for 44 yards) for the Eagles in the team's 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. He suffered a knee injury during the game. The veteran was a key piece of Philadelphia's offense in 2024, recording 42 receptions for 496 yards and two touchdowns en route to a Super Bowl championship.
With Goedert out, backup tight end Grant Calcaterra should see more action against the Chiefs. He recorded no receiving stats in Week 1. The 2022 sixth-round pick out of SMU has recorded 33 receptions for 418 yards and a touchdown during his first three seasons in the league.
Goedert's injury should mean an uptick of targets for star receiver A.J. Brown. He was targeted just once against Dallas, catching the pass for an eight-yard reception. Brown told 94 WIP this week that he struggled against the Cowboys' use of zone coverage last week.
“I got zoned the entire game, I didn’t get one single man rep. Obviously, there won’t be any separation. And I’m not hurt and I wasn’t a decoy. Just kind of how the game went.”

The Eagles will rely on Brown to have a bigger output against the Chiefs with Goedert out of the lineup.
