New York Giants offensive tackle James Hudson III achieved a rare feat in Sunday's road game against the Dallas Cowboys, but that wasn't a good thing.
Hudson was penalized four times on New York's opening drive. This included an unnecessary roughness call where he struck Cowboys defensive end James Houston across the helmet. According to CBS Sports, he's the first player since at least 2000 to commit four penalties on one drive.

The Giants still managed to score on a field-goal attempt, despite Hudson's penalties. However, Giants head coach Brian Daboll wanted to make it clear this was unacceptable, so he benched the O-lineman. Instead of admitting he was at fault, Fox cameras caught Hudson throwing a fit and yelling at his coach.

The Cleveland Browns took Hudson with pick No. 110 in the 2021 NFL Draft. He struggled with the team. Per Pro Football Focus, he posted a below-average 50.4 grade in 2024. He also allowed eight sacks in four seasons with Cleveland.
The Giants still rolled the dice on Hudson this offseason, signing him to a two-year, $12M contract in free agency. Thus far, he looks like a flop. Along with the penalty-filled performance against Dallas, he struggled in a Week 1 loss to the Washington Commanders.
Per PFF, he logged a subpar 55 grade and surrendered six pressures in the 21-6 road loss. With that in mind, Hudson throwing a fit after committing multiple penalties certainly won't help his standing with the coaching staff.
The Giants have already had enough trouble moving the ball with beleaguered quarterback Russell Wilson. In Week 1, the team recorded just 231 yards on 62 plays. The last thing the sputtering unit needs is a player who continues to move it backward.
