Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa was too honest while praising Bills' Josh Allen

There are very few people who would argue that Tua Tagovailoa is a better quarterback than Josh Allen, but Miami Dolphins fans probably would rather not hear that from their own guy.

The Dolphins are looking to come alive following a 0-2 start to the season, and they will have to do so in a tough road game against the Buffalo Bills on "Thursday Night Football" this week. Tagovailoa spoke about the challenge with reporters on Tuesday.

When Tagovailoa was asked about Allen, he made a very honest admission about his upcoming opponent — some might say too honest.

"He's top-tier. If it's not with his arm, it's with his legs. That dude can do literally anything he wants, definitely a different skill set for me," Tagovailoa said. "I can't do half of what he does when it comes to running the ball and any of that. And then with how he can just chuck a ball down the field, with how far and the arm strength he has. He's supreme when it comes to that."

Tagovailoa was obviously referring to Allen's physical abilities, which are arguably superior to those of any other quarterback in the NFL. But for a quarterback who has struggled mightily over the past two seasons, fans were quick to hit Tua with the "you can say that again" treatment.

Tagovailoa has struggled with turnovers

Through two games this season, Tagovailoa has turned the ball over four times. He had two interceptions and lost a fumble in a 33-8 blowout loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1. He then threw another pick in Sunday's 33-27 loss to the New England Patriots, and that one came when the Dolphins were trying to mount a comeback late in the fourth quarter.

After signing a four-year, $212.4M extension last offseason, Tagovailoa battled injuries and failed to lead Miami to the playoffs. He threw for 2,867 yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He missed six games due to injury, and the Dolphins finished 8-9.

Allen, on the other hand, is coming off an MVP season. It would be an understatement to say Tagovailoa "can't do half of what" Allen does, even if that is not how Tua meant for it to come out.
