On Wednesday, the New York Jets revealed their plans at starting quarterback before their Week 3 contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Quarterback Justin Fields suffered a concussion in the Jets' 30-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
Per Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, the Jets ruled out Fields for their road game in Tampa Bay. Backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor will get the nod against the Buccaneers.

Fields went 3-of-11 for 27 yards and took to sacks against the Bills. He rushed five times for 49 yards against a stingy Buffalo defense. Taylor didn't do much better when he came in to relieve Fields, finishing 7-of-11 passing for 56 yards and a touchdown. He added 21 yards on three carries and took two sacks for minus-10 yards.
Sunday's game is an important one for Jets under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn, as the team looks to avoid an 0-3 start for the first time since 2021. The Jets season looked so optimistic in the first half of their season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers, when they led their former quarterback Aaron Rodgers 19-17 at halftime. Things have gone downhill since then, but Glenn remains unrealistically optimistic.
Taylor, a 15-year veteran in the league, is 28-28-1 as a starter. He made his last start for the New York Giants in 2023. He's thrown for 12,310 yards, 69 touchdowns and 29 interceptions in his career.
